Teeing Off Fore a Cure
Celebrating 15 Year Anniversary
St. Louis – MO - On September 26th the Charities 2000 Golf Classic celebrated its 15th year anniversary in honor of 19 year old PH patient, Natalie Berra. In 1994, the Berra’s along with family, friends, their community and beyond joined together to begin their fundraising journey to find a cure. The efforts of this amazing group has helped the OHF open the doors to the OHF funded, Mayo Clinic Hyperoxaluria Center which provides the latest and greatest patient care to those suffering from Hyperoxaluria. Since its inception, the Charities 2000 Golf Classic has raised nearly 1 million dollars to fund live saving research for the OHF! Proudly, adding over $50,000 from this year’s event!
Sophomore, Natalie Berra flew in from University of Dayton, Ohio to meet and greet the golfers and volunteers. Natalie graciously addressed the crowd, thanking everyone for their generous support which helps keep her kidneys healthy and gives her the ability to continue her fight against PH. Back for a second year was 10 year old Gabby Glore who initiated the commencement of the tournament with her wonderful rendition of the National Anthem.
For the first time in 15 years, Mother Nature played havoc with the weather. Although the golfers dodged a few major downpours and had to clear the course twice, a wonderful day was had by all.
Tim and Lisa Berra wish to thank all their committee members, honorary chairmen, sponsors and the many selfless volunteers who helped make this event a success. Although a decade and a half have passed, the Berra’s still cannot begin to express the love that is in their hearts to all of those who continue to help their daughter, Natalie continue her fight against PH. Immense gratitude goes out to their families, loyal friends and outstanding community, who have stood by them for the past fifteen years and continue to stand with them today, despite the very difficult economic times. Tim Berra, thanks all for “Taking the OHF Challenge to Find a Cure and for giving my family hope knowing that Together We Will Win This Challenge!”
